Week one of Summer Vacation

We had a fun couple days at violin camp. My mom organizes this camp for all area Suzuki students. I taught one class of beginners and helped out with some other classes. When the kids were asked what their favorite part of the camp was their response was snack time and dancing. It was fun to do and I learned a lot. Emma had a great time.

Proof that Zach has a really silly side.

We have had this kite for quite a while and we finally had a really good windy day for the kids to fly it. There is such a picture of innocence and wonder when a child flies a kite, I love it. It's their giddy laughs when the wind catches the kite just right and it pulls tight and lifts into the sky and they look so proud like "I did it!". It's just plain fun.

This was such a sweet moment yesterday. Marshall had tripped and skinned his knee on some rocks and was inconsolable, most the time he just shakes it off and moves on. But injury added with exhaustion was a bad combo. I asked which position hurt the worse, while trying to make him as comfortable as possible. He yelled "it hurts going straight AND bent". I got him a book to distract him. He calmed down.
Then, out of the blue, he started screaming bloody murder. There was this pesky housefly landing on him and it just wouldn't leave him alone. It would fly away and come back all the time it was like AAAAAhhHHHHhhAAHH.... nothing...nothing..... nothing....... AAAAHHHAHAHHH...nothing...AAH.........I couldn't help but laugh. So Emma came over and was his personal fly guardian, and Zachary came over to get it with the fly swatter. It was just so funny to see them all working together to help him feel comfortable. Then Emma read him a book, complete with questions like "who do you think said that" or "what do you think will happen next" or "isn't that so funny Marshall?."

This is why I love summer. The kids really have time to do different things, and form better bonds with each other.

That's so sweet! Yes, just nice to have more time to BE.
Are you getting excited to leave!??? If we see smoke coming from the house, we'll head over. :)
