Shoplifters beware

Yesterday our friends Tami and Trevor came down with their children. We had such a great time with them. They are good personality matches for our children. They played great together. Well, we decided to run to Cabellas. They are great outdoor people and hadn't been yet. So we were gathering the troops near the front entrance getting ready to leave and this man in a baseball cap and large coat came down the stairs. His pockets looked really bulging. Two police officers came out of nowhere and stopped him and said get your hands up. He complied with a look that was priceless. It was a mix of I can't believe I got caught and how am I going to get out of this. Luckily for us and all 6 of our kids standing 15 feet away he did what they said, and they handcuffed him and took him away. As they were trying to deal with him we were trying to distract our kids just in case things got crazy. They were wide eyed and open mouthed and were stuck like little statues. Boy I don't think you'll find them stealing anything. I'm glad we were safe and that was a lesson 100 times more powerful than words in the safe confines of our home.

Then, this morning I discovered someone broke into our car and ransacked it looking for treasures other than kids jackets and cracker crumbs on the car floor. Apparently they werent interested in our map of California or manual of Preach my Gospel. So if you leave your car unlocked be sure to leave a Book of Mormon visible just in case the thieves need a little religion. They didn't take anything from us but they got some pretty good stuff from our neighbor and syphoned thier gas. Jerks.

Glad you guys were safe both times! I bet your kids will remember that for a loooong time if not forever! I was right next to a crazy drug bust in Seattle one time about 15 years ago and will never forget it-scary!

Oh and happy anniversary!!! I can't believe you guys have been married that long! You seem so happy together (-:

Oh my goodness, how maddening! Was there any damage to your car? Glad you didn't lose anything valuable.

WHAT?!? That stinks about your car! They probably could have used that Preach My Gospel manual! WOW! The kids learned a real life lesson, huh?
