Pinewood derby baby!

As parents of a cub scouter have been worried about this little tradition, as we are not the handiest of people. Seriously, when he started last year I was thinking ok this will be tricky. I just didn't want our sons car to fall apart half way down the first race. He has been planning it and designing and with the help of many hands he finished his army tank. He was very particular on his design. When it didn't go as planned, he was flexible and adjusted the plan. His army tank had to have accessories, guns, and coins with George Washington facing out. He was a joy to work with. Today we weighed it on a scale that was NOT accurate and got to the race with the car over 2 whole ounces, which is a lot in pinewood derby cars. Oops. Uncle Dan was there ready to help pull off weights and do a secret help for the wheels. Well it was a secret I didn't know. Maybe everybody else does! After helping him assembling his car we found out a secret tip of our own!

Dad got there just in time after work to be MC for the event and had the kids help call the starting line. It was so fun to see all those boys so anxious about their special car. This is what I love about scouts. The boys are so fun and energetic and just so happy to be doing stuff like this. Of course the best part was the racing mayhem at the end of the night. SO much fun

THE BOYS TOGETHER. They were so cute and interested in their conversation that I want to get a picture but then when I got the camera this is what happened

THIS IS THE ACT NATURAL POSE

This is not the actual event, its the mayhem that ensued afterwards, yes the after party.

A good time was had by all. We made it through!
