With our new little addition we have really been devoting all our time and efforts with family. We don't live in a traditional suburbian neighborhood. We are in charge of our schedule and what kinds of things enter our lives, for the most part. We just get plugging along in our own little happy world and are somewhat oblivious to the world around us.
Last night the world came knocking on our door. Literally. We had just settled in at 2 with the baby, she would not sleep for anything and all evening was spent trying to help her rest. An hour later, we were awoken by loud knocking and ringing the door bell. Which is frightning in the dead of the night where we live. There was no vehicle in our driveway, so whomever was out there was on foot. Ryan came out and answered the door, his background being trained for these types of unknown circumstances. He finds a stark naked man on our front porch, didn't speak a lick of English. First thought was he was on drugs. Come to find out he had been beaten and thrown out of a vehicle. Alcohol was very visably a factor in the evenings happenings. This man had walked over a mile going from house to house trying to find help, no one could help him as he spoke no English, and people rightly so were protecting their families.
Can you imagine a life where the choices you make land you in a place where you are freezing, broken, bleeding, naked, frozen, wet from the rain, in the middle of the night searching for help from people you cant even communicate with?
I live in a bubble as much as I can, so when I see the world around me I am amazed and it can be quite sad.

You must have been an answer to that mans prayers. I know what you mean about the bubble. I just finished watching 60 minutes and the massive problems they are having in Haiti. My heart aches for them. I watched the program and was so thankful for my blessings but felt like garbage at the same time because they are in such a desperate situation as I sat on my couch, with a full tummy, and my kids peacefully sleeping.
Real life Good Samaratins!
You guys are great!! You were the answer to this man's prayers. I also agree with everything that Em said too. So hard to see what people are struggling with in Haiti, when I have a roof over my head and food in the fridge.
I kind of would have like to be a fly on that wall just to see the look on Ryan's face when he opened the door.
Glad you guys were able to help this guy out.
How come I never get naked wet men knocking on my door? I'm just saying.
Seriously though, I'm glad he found you guys. You are the best people I know.
